Sen. John Kerry?s Comments Riles Troops

If you haven’t heard yet, Senator John Kerry really stuck his foot in his mouth on Monday during a speaking engagement, when he commented on the war in Iraq.? “The Views” Elisabeth Hasselbeck, obviously outraged by the comments, called Sen. John Kerry “Mel Gibson without the booze.”

Senator John Kerry ?remarked on Monday?to group of students that a poor education would lead to their being “stuck in Iraq,” which offended troops and politicians everywhere.? Kerry stated yesterday that he mishandled a joke, and meant to criticize the Bush administration.?

I think?Kerry’s comments really were meant to be a joke, but it sounded really bad when I heard the sound byte on television last night.??To roughly quote Sen. John Kerry, he said?.you?(students) either study hard?in school, go to college, and live a successful life?OR you go to Iraq.? This comment was meant to?take a jab at?President George Bush by implying that the President?does not know what he’s doing with regards to the war in Iraq.? However, at the time I initially heard the comment,?it definitely sounded like?Sen. John Kerry was implying U.S. troops are uneducated.? You?be the judge.?
