Brandy Gets Handed $50 Million Lawsuit

Everyone kind of suspected something like this could happen.  I guess when you are a celebrity, you have a lot, and when you do something wrong, you have a lot to lose. If you are not familar with Brandy’s accident, let me just say that the singer is believed to have triggered a series of automobile accidents earlier in the week, and one woman was killed during the incident on a Los Angeles freeway.

Since the accident, the family of the woman that was killed has filed a civil lawsuit against Brandy to the tune of $50 million dollars! And if you were Brandy, you do not want to sing that tune. But wait, there’s more.

In response to the possibility of manslaughter charges being brought against Brandy, her lawyer has stepped forward basically saying that the California Highway Patrol is making Brandy a political target and that there likely would be no charges filed if she were not a celebrity. In defense of the CHP, I understand what they are doing. A celebrity was involved in an accident in which someone was killed. Everyone knows this incident is going to be a high profile case before it ever hits the media. Any failure by the CHP to examine the details of the accident would look like celebrity favortism.
