Mark Wahlberg in GI Joe Movie

The rumor mill suggests that Mark Wahlberg may get the nod for the lead role in a movie based on the GI Joe cartoon series. In the movie, the Funky Bunch star would play Duke in the fight against terrorist organization COBRA.

Wahlberg just wrapped up another movie, Shooter, with GI Joe Prdoucer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Wahlberg had this to say about GI Joe, "I'll do whatever Lorenzo wants me to do. It really depends upon the script, obviously, but it's a cool idea. He says it's going to be kick ass, so yeah."

I say go Joe! I had 30 minutes of GI Joe for breakfast everyday before elementary school, so this is a total flashback. The way I see it, this movie can be totally hokey or great, so it's going to be up to Bonaventura to do it justice. As far as Wahlberg, he has the acting know-how to get the job done and that is exactly why they cast him for this role. Should be interesting, what do you think?
