Kelly Rowland started,”I wanted people to be able to see me as me, not just as that girl from Destiny’s Child. I wanted them to see someone who has gone through a lot of real life experiences and is so happy and so blessed. I wanted people to really see a side of me that they may not know.” Kelly Rowland
As one-third of the female group Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland rose to fame with the success of the group. In 1997, together with DC, Rowland launched the multi-platinum single “No, No, No” and subsequently released the platinum self-titled debut album in 1998.
1999′s The Writing’s on the Wall, whose three hit singles “Jumpin’, Jumpin’,” “Say My Name” and “Bills, Bills, Bills,” gained platinum certification in the U.S and sold more than 10 million copies internationally. Moreover, Rowland won a Grammy and received nominations for Record of the Year and for Music Video at the Soul Train Music Awards. Kelly Rowland was listed 29th in the Singles Artist of the Year list in 2002 and the 87th Singles Artist of the Year in 2003. As for her private life, the R&B beauty, and Pro Bowl Safety ‘Roy Williams’ of the Dallas Cowboys announced their engagement on May 10, 2004, after dating for six months. However, the couple parted ways a year later.
Being asked about the rumor, she said, “The wedding’s off! I’m not telling (if I gave the ring back). And before you ask, there’s no one new. It has it’s up and downs being single. But I never will again (talk about my boyfriends). I get it now – the next time I fall in love, I’m just going to shut up.”
Rowland and the members of “Destiny Child” announced that they would be splitting up after their tour ends in the fall.
