Akon Dominates the Music Charts

This past week hip-hop superstar Akon scored yet a second week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Senegalese star’s Don’t Matter kept his duet with Gwen Stefani on The Sweet Escape off the top, and gave him a rare one-two strike on the singles chart. That’s what I call domination! I dig Akon’s sound and I like the fact that he is pairing up with some of the music elite like Gwen and Snoop Dogg.

Akon’s smash-hit sophomore album, Konvicted, continues to outsell top level competition (Jay Z, Game, Fergie, John Legend) making it the biggest release of 2007 thus far. The album is certified platinum by the RIAA in just 5 short weeks after its release. Konvicted, the critically praised album which debuted at #2 on the Billboard “Top Albums” chart at the end of November, has amazingly regained the #2 spot and is now #2 for three weeks in a row, informs Rapnews.net.
