To Jail or Not To Jail, That is the Question

Lindsay Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanors earlier this morning for her idiotic actions from a while back.  As we reported yesterday, she will not be charged with any felonies — hard to believe right?

Stay tuned for the latest updates to find out if Lindsay will be shipped off to jail or if her high priced lawyers will get a plea bargain and have her sipping Pina Coladas in a week.

Update #1: Lindsay struck a deal by pleading no contest to two counts of DUI.  She must serve a minimum of 4 days in jail as the law states.

Update #2: Lohan also pleaded no contest to two counts of being under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving.

The judge has said she must serve 36 months probation and attend an alcohol education program for 18 months for the first DUI.  She must enroll, for an unspecified amount of time, in the resort rehab center she has currently been vacationing staying in.

Update #3: The second DUI plea will get her 48 hours in jail, which 24 hours must be served by January 18.

Lindsay must serve 10 hours of community service. (slap on the hand)

She was also told to “not to associate with people with controlled substances.” (another slap on the hand)

Update #4: Lindsay speaks out to TMZ:

“It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs.

Recently, I relapsed and did things for which I am ashamed. I broke the law, and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case. No matter what I said when I was under the influence on the day I was arrested, I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself. I thank God I did not injure others. I easily could have.

I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so. I am taking these steps to improve my life. Luckily, I am not alone in my daily struggle and I know that people like me have succeeded. Maybe with time it will become easier. I hope so.”
