Uma Thurman’s Stalker Indicted

Uma Thurman’s Stalker Indicted

A man that just happens to be a former psychiatric patient, and is accused of writing to Uma Thurman and threatening to kill himself if he saw the actress with another man, was indicted yesterday on stalking charges. Thirty-five year-old Jack Jordan was arrested outside Uma’s home on October 5 and charged with attempted coercion, aggravated harassment and stalking, prosecutors said. Mr. Jack Jordan was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail and accused of stalking Uma Thurman for the past two years. One of Jordan’s letter’s contained this sentence:

“I feel afraid that if I see you out again with another man, I will want to kill myself, maybe even after we meet.”

Prosecutor Christopher Hill told Criminal Court Judge Evelyn Laporte on October 11 that the grand jury had indicted Jordan, but he did not disclose the exact charges because the indictment was not officially filed. At the request of Jordan’s Legal Aid lawyer, the judge ordered a suicide watch, medical treatment and administrative segregation for the defendant.

The judge also signed an order of protection directing Jordan, of California, to stay away from the 37-year-old Uma if he is released on bail. A felony complaint by Detective Edward Yzaguirre says Jordan tried on November 8, 2005, to get into the star’s trailer on a movie set in Manhattan after claiming he was a friend of hers. A security guard ordered him to leave, according to the complaint.

Jordan also tried to give someone on the set letters to give Thurman. The letters included a cartoon drawing of Jordan walking on the edge of a razor blade and the actress digging a grave for him, according to the complaint.

The next day, the complaint says, Jordan’s family had him involuntarily committed to a hospital for psychiatric treatment after they learned about his behavior on the movie set.

Jordan was eventually released from the hospital. During August and September of 2006, he sent e-mails addressed to Thurman and other members of her family.

In August 2007, the complaint says, he appeared once or twice a day, three or four times a week, at Thurman’s home, asking to see her and being told to leave. At least twice he left letters there for Thurman, he said.

Thurman has starred in “Pulp Fiction,” “The Producers,” and the “Kill Bill” movies.
