Dr. Jan Adams Has a History of Malpractice

Meet Dr. Jan Adams, the cosmetic surgeon that allegedly botched Dr. Donda West’s breast reduction and tummy tuck, ultimately causing her death. Apparently Dr. Adams has quite a storied past full of issues and medical malpractice lawsuits.

Let’s see, for starters Dr. Adams was arrested in 2006 after pleading no contest to DUI charges, leading to his second drunk driving conviction. A Ms. Terrie Cage, who visited Dr. Adams for a breast augmentation and tummy tuck (the same procedure as Donda West), said the good doctor “negligently and carelessly examined, diagnosed, cared for, treated, and performed surgery” on her. That course of events ”rendered her sick, sore, lame, and disabled.” But the story continues…

Bonita Hovey claims in 2005 that Dr. Adams performed a tummy tuck on her and screwed up the job. Her lawsuit reads that doc “negligently failed to possess and exercise, in both diagnosis and treatment, that reasonable degree of knowledge and skill that is ordinarily possessed and exercised by other physicians and surgeons.”

And finally, a suit filed in Orange County Superior Court by Jana Beighle claims Dr. Adams never told her he ”had an undisclosed history of medical malpractice claims and judgements.” Beighle suffered from postoperative issues that included fluid collection after her breast augmentation. She eventually had her implants removed. 

And it’s not over yet! Teana Lucas claims Dr. Jan Adams agreed to perform liposuction on her upper arms and abdomen, but just prior to the surgery he whispered that “he loved her and that he was going to marry her, ” according to Lucas. Teana claims that while she was heavily medicated, Dr. Adams took her out to dinner, got her intoxicated, and took her home and had sexual intercourse with her. I thought that was how it was done?
