Last night on “American Idol,” Brooke White arguably deleirved the best girls performance and in doing so won the approval of the judges. Brooke appears to be the only girl in a position to rival the guy favorite, David Archuleta.

Brooke White sang “You’re So Vain” as she played her guitar and looked at judge Simon Cowell. Randy Jackson and judge/returned-singer Paula Abdul thought the song went perfectly with her voice and Simon said he “absolutely loved it.”

Carly Smithson sang “Crazy On You.” Randy Jackson thought the beginning was a bit rough, but the performance was great. Paula Abdul said she did a great job, of course. Simon even said he believes she is the girl to beat, but that was prior to Brooke’s superior performance.

Kristy Lee Cook was definitely the most improved of the week — and she sang “You’re No Good.” Randy said it was a “100% improvement,” and we all agree! 

Ramiele Malubay’s version of “Don’t Leave Me This Way” was termed “almost boring” while Alaina Whitaker was called one of the “dark horses.” She can sing and will carry the “young vote,” so who knows?

Amanda Overmyer was by far the worst of the night! She sang “Carry on Wayward Son” and the judges hated it! I thought she looked very nervous and she sounded way off the mark! I think she’s a poser!

But we will find out later tonight on “American Idol” when two girls and two guys get the boot. It should be good!
