Some people never learn. Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil has already served jail time for an alcohol-fueled crash that took the life of a friend, but he’s still driving drunk. The 49-year-old rocker was arrested late Sunday night by the Las Vegas police, who pulled him over after receiving a complaint that Neil had smashed a woman’s camera. He was later released on $2,000 bail.
Back in 1984, Neil was partying with friends at his Redondo Beach home when he decided to make a run to the local liquor store. The singer crashed his car into another vehicle, severely injuring its two passengers and killing his pal Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley of the band Hanoi Rocks. Neil’s blood alcohol level was .17, more than twice the legal limit. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail plus five years probation, paid $2.5 million in restitution to the victims and did 200 hours of community service.
Even that didn’t convince Neil that driving drunk is a bad idea, as he was nabbed again in 2007, also in Vegas, but pled no contest to a charge of reckless driving in exchange for dropping the DUI charge. That bust could come back to haunt him, and the singer may be facing more jail time. Vince, you’re almost 50 years old—grow up!
