MTV’s “Jersey Shore” broke records with its second season premiere, but one of its stars broke the law and was hauled off to jail! Thursday night’s “Jersey Shore” return drew a whopping 5.3 million viewers, making it MTV’s best season premiere since “The Osbournes” back in 2002.

The “Jersey” crew was back on the beach at Seaside Heights Friday, shooting scenes for season three, when cast member Snooki had a bit too much to drink. Make that a lot too much to drink. So much that she passed out in the sand. The inebriated guidette was hauled off in handcuffs by cops for drunk and disorderly conduct. An eyewitness reported, “She was passed out face down in the sand. She couldn’t even stand up. She was on her knees and kept falling on the beach. People were laughing and taking pictures of her before the cops arrested her.”

Friday afternoon, pal Jenni Farley, better knows as JWOWW, tweeted that she was rushing to her friend’s aid. “Going to bail @Sn00ki out of jail… The things I do for this girl I swear.” Snooki managed to avoid spending an evening in the slammer—she was out before nightfall, and likely planning her weekend. On the bright side, the arrest is great publicity for the show!
