Ben Affleck’s crime thriller “The Town” made a killing at the weekend box office, bringing in a total of $23.8M. This total easily beat the week’s other two debuts, “Easy A” with $18.2M and “Devil” with $12.6M. In its second week, “Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D” brought in another $10.1M, for a total of $43.9M. Newcomer “Alpha and Omega” took fifth place with $9.2M.

The rest of the top ten were holdovers: “Takers” ($3M), “The American” ($2.7M), “The Other Guys” ($2M), “Inception” ($2M) and “Eat Pray Love” ($1.7M). Next week, the film to watch for is “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” as Michael Douglas returns in his iconic role of Gordon Gekko.
