Action thriller “Unstoppable” got stopped in its tracks by the animated “Megamind 3D,” which kept its grip on the top spot at the box office this weekend. Denzel Washington’s runaway trail epic brought in a respectable $23.5M in its first weekend, but that wasn’t enough to top “Megamind” with $26M. “Due Date” scored $16M in its second week, followed by a pair of rather tepid debuts: “Skyline” with $12M and “Morning Glory” with $9.4M.
“For Colored Girls” took a big drop to bring in $6.8M, while “Red” is still hanging in with $5M. Halloween is over but a pair of scary flicks are still around, as “Paranormal Activity” took in another $3M, followed by “Saw 3D” with $2.9M. “Jackass 3D” rounds out the top ten, raking in $2.3M for a total of $114.7M.
Next weekend, “Megamind 3D” will probably be knocked out of the top spot by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.”
