John and Elaine Mellencamp Split

This has to qualify as the most unexpected celeb split of 2010. Rock star John Mellencamp and his wife, former model Elaine Irwin, have separated after 20 years of marriage and two children. Elaine was one of the reigning suoermodels of the late 80s/early 90s, until she was hired to star in one of Mellencamp’s videos. The two were wed shortly after. No divorce papers have been filed, and a rep for the pair stated they “are proud of their 20 years together and are very happy with their accomplishments both as parents and as a family.” See photos of Elaine from her modeling career after the jump.

Meet the Next Mrs. Hugh Hefner

Millions of guys fell in love with Crystal Harris after seeing her Playmate layout in the December 2009 issue of Playboy, but only one managed to win her heart. Over Christmas weekend, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner popped the question to the 24-year-old blonde, and later posted to Twitter: “After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve. When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.” Later, Hef added: “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.” This will be the 84-year-old Hefner’s third marriage.  He had previously been married to 1989 Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad, but the two had lived apart since 1998 and divorced earlier this year.
