It was one of the most boring weekends ever at the box office, as holdovers held on another week, Oscar contenders went wide and the week’s only debut bombed. “True Grit” took the top spot with $15M, followed by “Little Fockers” with $13.7M. “Season of the Witch” opened with a disappointing $10.7M, while “Tron: Legacy” brought in another $9.8M in its fourth week. A pair of Oscar contenders still in limited runs took spots five and six—“Black Swan” with $8.3M and “Country Strong” with $7.3M.
“The Fighter” brought in $7M in its fifth week of release. “The King’s Speech” is still in limited release but took in $6.8M. Rounding out the top ten were a pair of kids’ films, “Yogi Bear” with $6.8M and “Tangled” with $5.2M. Things should get more interesting next weekend, with the openings of Vince Vaughn’s comedy “The Dilemma” and superhero flick “The Green Hornet.”
