Maybe the editors of Cosmo Turkey need to bone up on their history.
Cosmopolitan magazine has several international editions, and has been known to recycle pics taken during photo sessions for one into layouts and covers for another. Usually, this provides more exposure for the celebrity photographed, but in one instance, the magazine’s editors showed some really bad judgment. Frequent Cosmo cover girl Kim Kardashian appears on the cover of the mag’s Turkish edition, with the issue set to go on sale this month. Why is this bad timing? Because Kim has been openly proud of her Armenian heritage, and April is the month that the Turkish committed genocide against her people almost 100 years ago.
A source told E! News, “She’s upset about it obviously, but it was an honest mistake on the behalf of Cosmo.” Apparently someone at Cosmo was supposed to run the cover by Kim for her approval. While she’s not happy about the gaffe, Kim is taking it calmly, and commented on her blog: “I have an amazing relationship with Cosmopolitan Magazine. World-over, Cosmo is known as a fun and inspiring magazine for women of all races, shapes, sizes, regardless of their political beliefs and I really hope that if I can bring awareness to the issue, then this in an accomplishment.”
