Blonde beauty January Jones hit the big time with her role as 60s housewife Betty Draper in the series “Mad Men,” and she’s giving the scoop on how she won the part.
January Jones was an unknown, struggling young actress when she got the opportunity to try out for a new series about advertising executives in the 1960s. The actress recalled her audition to W magazine. “There was no Betty in the pilot when I auditioned…I read for Peggy two times—it was between me and Elizabeth Moss who eventually got the part. At the end of the scene, there was a casual mention that Don was married. Matt went home that night and wrote two scenes that featured Betty. I auditioned a couple of days later, and he made me a verbal promise that the character would grow. I took the part on faith.” Her faith was obviously justified! January looks megahot in these photos from the new issue of W.
