Nicollette Sheridan’s tenure on “Desperate Housewives” ended dramatically, but the drama didn’t end there. The actress’s $20 million lawsuit against the show’s creator will go to trial next month.
Life on Wisteria Lane was never happy or peaceful for Nicollette Sheridan. Fans loved her man-stealing Edie character, but her years there were marked by rumors of diva behavior and discord, especially with the show’s mastermind, Marc Cherry. Finally tired of putting up with the actress, Cherry fired Sheridan by having her character die in horrific auto accident. Sheridan did not take the dismissal well, and last year filed suit against Cherry, claiming he fired her because she reported to ABC execs an alleged assault in 2008. The actress is looking for $20 million in damages. On Tuesday, an L.A. judge agreed to have the suit proceed to trial. At a hearing Tuesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Allen announced, “It is clear to the court that this is something that needs to go to a jury.” The trial is set to begin June 8. Want to bet that Cherry settles up with Sheridan before then? Besides the nuisance and waste of his time, he’s not going to want all of his dirt laundry brought out in court.
