David Archuleta Rocks “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”!!!

I turned on “American Idol” this evening and they are really building up the whole David Cook Versus David Archuleta battle! They even started the show with each of them coming out in boxing gloves. And although the two singers were very gracious towards one another, tonight’s show really is the brawl for it all!
David Cook did a great job on his opening song, but David Archuleta absolutely blew his version of ”Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” out of the box (to quote Randy Jackson)! And I’m so overwhelmed by Archuleta that I can not for the life of me remember what Cook sang for his opening song.
And Simon Cowell really said it best, “Round one goes to David Archuleta.”
Has American Idol Lost it’s Mojo?

“American Idol” had it all this season — talented singers, a David Archuleta for the prepubescent crowd, visits from pop royalty, stinging comments from Simon Cowell as usual, and jaw-dropping commentary from Paula Abdul. With all that provided on the show, why have some fans and observers found it a dull slog as the show builds to its David Archuleta vs. David Cook finale on Wednesday?
It seems contestants who were good but not memorable made for only mediocre television, according to show watchers. Where was the drama, the unpredictability, the oddball personalities? Where was the fun? I can’t believe I’m saying this… but maybe the show needs more idiots like Sanjaya?
David Archuleta Photos from Salt Lake City
If you are a David Archuleta fan, then you probably watched “American Idol” on Wednesday and saw them take a trip home with him to Salt Lake City, Utah. As moving as this trip home with David was, and as consistent as this kid has been over the season, something about him is totally off. The few times I have caught the show (OK, I watch it religously and even moderate the forums), David Archuleta has seemed completely clueless.
He really does have talent, but it also seems like he’s really well “baked.” You know, graaaass maaaaan. I’m not saying he’s a drug user, but he needs to wake up and smell the f#&king coffee! Actually, it might help if he took a couple puffs. But on the bright side, this dude has 13-year old girls throwing themselves at him and he’s still got a year before it’s not legal anymore.
But forget him, vote for David Cook — because he deserves to win!
Simon Cowell: David Cook Deserves to Win!
Producer and judge Simon Cowell says he believes contestant David Cook should be crowned the winner of “American Idol.” In an interview with Blender, Simon admitted that he believes David “deserves” to win. Simon said:
“I think he’s done more to deserve it over the eleven weeks. He’s taken more risks, he’s done things with certain songs that have been more interesting. If I’m gonna base it on who has done the best performances over the live shows.”
Kady, Luke, Asia’h, and Danny Leave American Idol
“American Idol” had to kick off two more guys and two more girls, but not before beat-boxing Blake Lewis started the show off with his new song. After that, the drama once again surrounded the reality of the show and the departure of four Idol hopefuls. Over 36 million votes poured in this week after the guys and girls performed, but who got the boot?
Here they are the wannabes in the order in which they were released. Say goodbye to:
Kady Malloy – She was great when she imitated Britney Spears, but she needed to sing like a real pop star!
Luke Menard – He never really had the talent. He was always just a “good” singer, but not great.
Asia’h Epperson – She auditioned with the show just days after her father passed away and I know she wanted this to happen, but it wasn’t meant to be. We wish her the best!
Danny Noriega – The last two guys standing were Chikeze and Danny — and I was happy Danny got the axe. I think he was original and was totally himself, but he is not what America wants. No hard feelings.
Analysis and Ranking of Top 8 American Idol Women

If you tuned in for the final eight ladies on “American Idol,” you witnessed a mediocre show. Overall, the ladies were pretty weak, but there were four women that really stood out — and you can find them in the top four positions on my list down there at the bottom. Were the ladies better than the guy’s performances last night? It’s a toss up!
Asia’h Epperson – She performed Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and the house was dancing with her! Simon says, “Final six!” All I can say regarding her clothes, “4 out of 10.” U. G. L. Y.
Kady Malloy – Kady looked like a Jessica Alba-ish shooting star, but she did not sound like one. Her notes had the dogs barking outside of my railroad car!
Amanda Overmyer – She performed in her original rocker-chick style and hammered this one out of the park! Amanda is going to stay around and make things interesting.
Ramiele Malubay – Uh, no! Paula said, “She deserves to be in the final six.” I say “bottom six.”
Carly Smithson – It was a good solid performance. Paula congratulated her by saying, “You’re like a dependable dog.” By the way, do not piss Paula off.
Kristy Lee Cook – She performed with a mild country twist and it was just OK. Nothing to write home about here – especially if she leaves tonight.
Brooke White – She kept it simple with a little acoustic guitar and a lack of back up singers on “Love is a Battlefield.” And yes, there is a battlefield because she IS in this to win it! Real cool! Simon says, “Two weeks running you’ve given a great performance.”
Syesha Mercado – Another strong performance from Syesha. It wasn’t the best of the night, but it was in the top half.
They say you’re only as good as your last performance, so here is my ranking of the ladies based on last night’s performances:
- Amanda Overmyer
- Brooke White
- Syesha Mercado
- Carly Smithson
- Asia’h Epperson
- Kristy Lee Cook
- Ramiele Malubay
- Kady Malloy
Important Analysis of Top Eight Guys on American Idol
It’s a fight for the final six guys! Eight guys are chasing six spots for the top twelve, but two are on their way out after tonight! Who the hell is it going to be — and who’s going to be your next “American Idol?” The ladies perform tonight.
Overall, I have to say the show was pretty solid. There were some good performances, but I’m thinking “idle” overall, not “Idol.” Let’s go through the contestants in the order in which they performed:
Luke Menard — Luke fails to deliver a good performance once again. Randy Jackson called it “karaoke” and that, in my opinion, is a compliment!
David Archuleta — We all know he’s a front-runner, but his performance this week was not nearly as good as the week prior. He was good, but I was expecting amazing once again. He aint going nowhere but up!
Danny Noriega — This guy is a loser! I hate everything about him. Oh, and his singing sucked!
David Hernandez — He didn’t take off any clothes like in his stripping past, but he should have taken his ass right off the stage. Sorry, this guy is not going to go much further.
Michael Johns — Michael did a good job, but he’s not going to win at the end. A good and stable performance.
David Cook — David rocked the house! He looked like a rock star and he sounded like one, as well. His performance this week may keep him around for quite some time. He gained a lot of fans this week!
Jason Castro — He did better than last week, but it wasn’t quite there. Simon “loved it,” but I wasn’t blown away. We got to see him with his guitar, but something about him is not saying, “Idol.”
Chikeze — This guy is good, but doesn’t have a shot at winning it. He’s consistently become better and better, but I think he, Luke, and/or Danny get their golden tickets home on this week. Sorry jacuzi, I mean Chikeze.
Guys ranked by last night’s performances:
- David Cook
- David Archuleta
- Michael Johns
- Jason Castro
- Chikeze
- David Hernandez
- Danny Noriega
- Luke Menard
Yeager, Lushington, Whitaker, Carrico Voted Off Idol

Idol Time: It’s that time of the week and that means two guys and two girls are leaving the confines of “American Idol” and will be sent back out into the real world. They don’t have to go home — they just can stay there!
Jason Yeager and Numb Nuts were the two guys the viewing voters sent home. Simon said of Jason, “You’re not a bad singer, you just don’t have any charisma or stage presence.” Robbie Carrico sang “Hot Blooded” on Tuesday night, but he left the judges cold blooded and he left the show.
For the ladies, the first person having to leave tonight was Alexandrea Lushington. Last week she had issues and her performance this week wasn’t much better. The results were inevitable. The second Idol girl sent home was Alaina Whitaker and she really broke down — I though she was going to faint at first! Alaina almost didn’t sing her “fairwell” song, but the remaining women walked up on stage to help her finish out her Idol career.
So there you have. No real surprises except for Alaina. Anyone that watched the show would have thought Amanda Overmyer should have been voted off, but I guess she’s getting the “hippie -rocker” vote. What else can we add?
Idol: It’s Brooke White Versus David Archuleta

Last night on “American Idol,” Brooke White arguably deleirved the best girls performance and in doing so won the approval of the judges. Brooke appears to be the only girl in a position to rival the guy favorite, David Archuleta.
Brooke White sang “You’re So Vain” as she played her guitar and looked at judge Simon Cowell. Randy Jackson and judge/returned-singer Paula Abdul thought the song went perfectly with her voice and Simon said he “absolutely loved it.”
Carly Smithson sang “Crazy On You.” Randy Jackson thought the beginning was a bit rough, but the performance was great. Paula Abdul said she did a great job, of course. Simon even said he believes she is the girl to beat, but that was prior to Brooke’s superior performance.
Kristy Lee Cook was definitely the most improved of the week — and she sang “You’re No Good.” Randy said it was a “100% improvement,” and we all agree!
