The 2008 Oscar Nominations Announced 

Despite the writers strike threatening the awards show, the 2008 Oscar Nominations were announced today. Among the top Oscar nominees were “Juno,” “Michael Clayton,” and “Atonement.” The movie “Juno” was nominated for 4 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actress for Ellen Page, Best Director, and Original Screenplay.

“Atonement” is up for Best Picture as well as Best Supporting Actress, Saoirse Ronan. The drama also received a nod for Adapted Screenplay, Art Direction, Cinematography, Original Score, and Costume.

Listen up Nelly Furtado fans. Nelly is kicking off her U.S. tour Get Loose Tour on May 30 on the east coast, in Hollywood, Florida. The tour includes 17 dates and runs from coast to coast. Nelly said of her tour:

It takes you on a journey. It’s important to have a fun show that’s interactive, where the crowd’s involved,” she explained. “I always leave room for spontaneity and rawness, because those are my roots, you know? I started by doing club shows, and that’s the energy I love, the raw club energy of just feeling like you’re rocking out. There are also visuals and movement, just to keep it sophisticated and sensual and fun.”
